back to school again
Monday, 11 August 2008

Day one of school.

It is back to the hustle and bustle of a new academic year, feeling annoyed because the library was crowded at 10am and I couldn't print my lecture notes, then going to my first lecture late, then running out during the break to print miscellaneous stuff, then killing time in the computer lab while waiting for a friend for lunch.

At the same time, there's the last minutes CORS bidding jitters, because the breadths I'd wanted to take are no longer available for bidding in the current round! And so the scramble starts to find an alternative module, and I found one! ... Just that there is only one vacancy, and currently there are three of us fighting for that module, with the starting bid being 1487. Gosh. For now I've already plonked down 1800 points on that, and maybe I will up that when closed bidding starts. What a very expensive module.

Despite moaning and groaning, and essentially being reluctant to start school, there's really nothing I can do about it but to work hard. I have this feeling that I need to work doubly hard to pay my parents back (in a way) for sending me on SEP for the past year, so that it won't totally be a waste of their money. Living up to expectations, or merely a matter of giving back and making them happy. One new acquaintance made in my first lecture just now, and we will become group mates, as well as attend the lecture for another module later together. Bumped into some old friends near the Arts canteen as well. Not too bad for a first day.
