*knock knock* oh, it's hollow
Tuesday, 22 January 2008

I ended my three hours of afternoon lessons feeling rather annoyed by the lecturer. Attending his classes are a sheer waste of time. Since the lecture notes we take from what he says and writes on the board are useless, I suppose people turn up mainly for the attendance record, as it constitutes a certain percentage of our final grades.

Mumble mumble, scribble scribble.

After writing a whole chunk of words, he barely explains a thing, then goes on to a totally different point, and that's the end of the previous point. Excuse me, but what was the point again??? When he grandly says stuff like "that's the macho strategy", most of us are all goggle-eyed as we think, "WHAT is?" since he didn't explain it, yet talked as if he did!

When I actually manage to catch his explanation/definition of some terms through his horrendous English, it's something like this:

"Non-zero game: it means that total result is not there."

I quoted exactly what he said. $%&#W%@ How is that enlightening in any way? If anything, it added to the question marks (and lightning flashes) above my head! When Lissa was with me for the second class it was not so bad, but when I was taking the previous one alone I was so mad steam could practically come out of my ears. I wonder how he got away with being a lecturer in SILS where classes are taught in English when his command of the language is so poor. More than clearly articulated words, there are redundant sounds of hemming and hawing. Gawd, that grates on my nerves.

At times like these, I miss the rigorous Economics classes at NUS. Such a thing would probably never happen - lessons at home are challenging and mentally stimulating! His just puts me to sleep and probably rots my brains. I'm not going to take any more of his classes even if the tests he sets are simple; The lectures are too much (in a manner of speaking) for me to handle.

Maybe I'm just being very bitchy. But due to the unhelpful nature of lecture notes, I have to do my own research on what the class was really supposed to be about before I sit for the final examinations. Kill me. -.-
