虹の会 organises a whole lot of activities for international students, from 紅葉 viewing to 飲み会 to ピクニック, and there are some people who turn up for practically every event. Somehow, I get the feeling it's not because they're interested in the activity per se, but because they're interested in someone in the club, or that they're just so stuck on Japanese (guys, to be more specific) that they jump at the opportunities. Someone says that I've got my priorities wrong, that I tend to put playing and chatting before my schoolwork, but these people are worse. They stay out late to play, and when they're too tired from playing the next morning, they skip class. Studying for quizzes and doing assignments is not the-night-before-mugging kind of last minute, it is on-the-day last minute. It seems rather silly to me, maybe because at the moment I'm a little tired of going out (could it be due to the recent Shirakawa trip?), and I'm not lusting after any cute Japanese guys. Then again, choosing to hole up in my room isn't going to help me make any Japanese friends so that I can practise my Japanese. There's a Japan Study event going on tonight (it's a fortnightly thing, it seems, with English Study being the alternate fortnightly event), and I can't decide if I want to go, or if I want to get over the inertia to go. Staying in my room to fool around on the computer or catch up on my readings sound more enticing and constructive.

Sometimes, it's tiring to be around certain people. It's like I just want to hang out with A, but because B hangs out often with A, whenever I meet A, A will ask B along, or B will invite Bself along. This buy-one-get-one-free deal is annoying. Aren't there times when you don't want the freebie, because it's so crappy? Lugging around an additional burden from the supermarket to my place isn't something I like to do. Being someone who wants to have her cake and eat it, I wish this particular aspect of friendship will go my way. Sigh. Making friends with only the people I want to be friends with in Japan is somewhat complicated. Why am I so disagreeable? If only I were so easy going that I'd get along with everyone else, or throw myself wholeheartedly into the various events without thinking so much. ... But I simply feel tired of this.
