the hwachong farmily
Wednesday, 18 July 2007

Looking at my Hwachong photos reminded me of my Hwachong days, and somehow I started thinking of the locker than cl!ck shared. Having a locker in those days was very convenient, and good fun. Considering how many Lit texts we had, it was very handy leaving Othello in the locker. And The Guide. And The Caretaker. I found it quite cute, seeing four (or more, if our classmates were lazy) of the same texts neatly lined up, together with all the history/geography files/notes. As well as the 3 or 4 jackets that we'd squeeze on top. Not forgetting the little sweet corner we had. I enjoyed going to NTUC after school to shop for candy to put in the locker, and in between lessons when we were bored we'd always ask one another, "Want to go to the locker?" It was a meeting point, a resting point. It was also the point where I always tripped on the darn ledge going to and from the locker. -.-''

I miss those days where Sarah would mimick Mr White about the sheep at Burberry, or at the drinks stall where he'd go "Oh dear, no more watermelon juice" in that accent of his. She is such a storyteller, she never fails to crack me up. And I think of all the silly stuff we did in GP class and maddened Ms Liaw. I'm reminded of the bula bula phase we were in - we actually have a picture of it somewhere! And of reading periods when Yong Huat would hide behind his bag and devour a bao, or Jingyi would hide behind her bag to take a nap, or the rest of us would slouch behind our Time magazine for a quick shut eye. It was not very ideal going for reading period after PE lesson, we were all stinky and tired. Lunch breaks with the horrendous queues - us girls usually ended up at the chicken rice queue, while the guys went for cai fan. Of course, not forgetting the drinks, which were usually ribena, milo or horlicks. We always joked about how our class only had 14 people, making fun of the missing person unceasingly. We were so bad. But that was part of the lure of the class. :)

I wonder why university cannot be (or at least, isn't) as fun as JC days.

And I think I won't be around for this year's MAF. No mass dances or school songs for me. :(
