that's not the way it should be
Tuesday, 29 May 2007

I was just processing an insurance form when the insured's age popped into view. The patient is merely 23 years old, two years my senior! I was quite shocked. Maybe it's because I take it for granted that young people should be healthy and full of life, not crippled by disease or anything like that. What's worse is that his cancer is abnormal with poor outcome. It sounds very gloomy. What is the world coming to, when the young are going the way of the older? Not that anyone said sicknesses are for the elderly only, but still...

This makes me determined to go all out to do what I want, when I want. Who knows what will happen in the near future? I don't want to be one of these bemoaning all the could-have-beens, that's too pathetic. And I don't want to always be pushing things to a "tomorrow" that may never come.

The world's too unpredictable to promise a tomorrow.
